Advisement

Guiding your academic path

The faculty in the English department are committed to helping you plan and schedule your courses to successfully fulfill University requirements and to achieve your academic and career goals. To ensure that you are on-track with your studies, plan to meet with your academic advisor at least once a semester.

Declare an English major

If you've decided English is the major for you, visit the Academic Advisement Center, University Hall 109 and complete a “Change of Curriculum-Advisement” form. Bring the completed form to the office of the English department, Siceluff Hall 215, to be assigned an advisor.

Undergraduate advising

Once you've declared an English major, contact the department of English. If you have forgotten who has been assigned as your advisor, log in to My Missouri State and click on the academics tab.

Once you have been assigned an advisor, you can contact him or her directly to schedule appointments for advising. If you have completed fewer than 75 hours, you are required to speak with and receive your advisor’s release to register for classes.

Graduate advising

If you are pursuing a master’s degree, contact Dr. Matthew Calihman, for advising assistance. You must receive advisor release prior to registering for each semester of graduate study.

Graduate students are also required to submit an advisor approved program of study to the Graduate College before 14 hours have been completed.
