Michael Ellis

Photo of Michael Ellis, ProfessorDr. Michael Ellis's research and teaching specialties include Old and Middle English language and literature, history of the English language, and dialects of present-day English. He received his B.S. and M.A. degrees from East Tennessee State University (1980 and 1984) and his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky (1988). His publications include articles in American Speech, Anglia, Appalachian Journal, and American Notes and Queries. He also contributed to the electronic Beowulf, edited by Kevin Kiernan and published by the British Library and the University of Michigan Press. Dr. Ellis received a College of Arts and Letters award for research in 2000 and a university award for teaching in 2002.
