Jane Hoogestraat
Professor and Literature Coordinator
Dr. Jane Hoogestraat received her B.A. in English (magna cum laude,
honors program) at Baylor University in 1980. She received her M.A. in
English in 1982 at the University of Chicago. She received her Ph.D. in
English (with honors) at the University of Chicago in 1989. Dr. Hoogestraat
specializes in 20th century poetry, literary theory (including gender
studies, ethics, and aesthetics), and creative writing–poetry. Her recent
publications include poetry in Southern Review, Image,
Ginko Tree Review, Mars Hill Review, Baylor Magazine, and
University of Chicago Magazine. She received a College Teaching Award in 1997, a College Research Award in 1999, a University Teaching Award in 2005, and Graduate College Thesis Advisor Award for 2005–2006. Her hobbies include listening to 20th
century classical music and collecting black amethyst glass.
