Jean Stringam

Photo of Jean Stringham, Associate ProfessorJean Stringam received her Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) in 1998, her B. Ed. in secondary English at the University of Calgary (Alberta) in 1993, her B.A. and M.A. degrees in English at Brigham Young University in 1968 and 1971, and is an Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, 1968. Dr. Stringam teaches courses in Young Adult Literature, Children’s Literature, and Victorian Literature. Her research area specialty is in Nineteenth-century Canadian Young Adult Short Adventure Fiction. She was named Exchange Professor from Missouri State to Qingdao University, P.R. China in 2004–2005 and 2005–2006 where she taught young adult literature, graduate research, plus many levels of writing and oral English. She was awarded the University Award for Teaching, August 2006, and was appointed a member of the Graduate Faculty in 2003. After her Sabbatical Year (2007–2008) she will be teaching for Missouri State at the Imperial College of London University campus, UK, Fall 2008. Her interests (aside from reading and writing) are travel, theatre, opera and classical music, dog-sledding, and white-water rafting.
