Mission
Students in the teacher education program at Missouri State are prepared to be professional educators of the highest quality. Students learn to recognize, accept, and enhance the central place of teachers in the public affairs of this nation and world. Students are prepared to become reflective teachers, specialists, and administrators who are committed to the education of children and the ideals of literacy, scholarship, leadership, lifelong learning, and service to society. Upon completion of the teacher education program, students have the ability to make informed instructional, curricular, technological, and personal decisions that help all students, including those with unique learning needs and disabilities.
Program Description
All students who wish to be admitted to the teacher education program must complete all General Education requirements (see the General Education section of catalog). Students must note the specific General Education requirements for Teacher Certification (see the School of Teacher Education section of catalog). In addition to the General Education requirements, students must complete 42 hours of major requirements as well as courses in composition and professional education.

Admission to the University does not automatically qualify a student to participate in the professional component of the teacher education program.
