Accelerated M.A. in English - Literature Track

Get a head start on your M.A. in English Literature!
Complete both your bachelor's and master's in Literature at Missouri State in 1-2 fewer semesters by substituting up to 12 credits of graduate coursework for undergraduate requirements.
How it works
Take 600-level courses as an undergraduate in mixed-credit classes. These courses count toward both degrees, giving you a head start on graduate school.
Eligibility
- Junior standing with overall GPA of 3.00+
- B.A. or B.S. in English - Literature
- Minimum 9 credit hours in Literature with no grade below B
Application Process
- Log into your My Missouri State portal.
- Find the Graduate College Admissions card.
- Select "Accelerated Grad Application."
- Upload: unofficial transcript, resume and letter of interest.
- Complete payment ($40 fee).
Note: Select the semester after your bachelor's degree completion as graduate admission term.
Accelerated Master's acceptance and approvals must be completed before the end of the Change of Schedule Period each semester.
Mixed Credit Registration
To receive credit at both the undergraduate and graduate level, you must complete a Mixed Credit form
- Complete the Mixed Credit form with correct graduate CRNs.
- Email form to the Graduate Director.
- After approvals, register for the 600-level course and drop the undergraduate course.
Graduate Assistantships
As an accelerated student, you may apply for non-teaching assistantships. Teaching positions become available after completing your bachelor's degree.
Requirements
- Admitted to graduate program
- Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0+
- Maintain 3.0 GPA
Application materials
Send the following to the graduate director:
- Completed G.A. application
- Two reference letters
- Writing sample (12-15 pages)

- Spring semester: October 1
- Fall semester: March 1
