Pawsibilities: An Anthology of Student Writing

Pawsibilities celebrates the writing and voices of Missouri State's first-year writing students. The anthology embraces writing and research as a complex process, publishing the range of thinking that happens in the first-year writing classroom: narrative, reflection, analysis, research, and multimodal work. Every accepted submission is work completed for one of the following courses:

How to submit

Pawsibilities is published every spring, showcasing work from the previous spring, summer, and fall semesters. To be considered for the upcoming volume, your piece must have been written for ENG 100, ENG 105, or ENG 110 during one of those three semesters.

Students submit their own work directly through our submission form. December 15 is the deadline to submit for consideration in the next year’s volume.

Selection process

Submissions are chosen by our team of associate editors—all graduate teaching assistants in the Department of English. Because they teach first-year writing courses themselves, they read submissions with an understanding of what these assignments ask of student writers.

Selection is based on original thinking, not polish alone. Editors look for writing that shows genuine engagement with an idea, and they aim to build each volume around a diverse mix of voices, topics and perspectives.
